Back Rooms

Originally these were servant rooms, with no door to front (west end) of house and no colonnade porch. A stairway leads up from the dining room area. They were later turned into guest rooms; the door and colonnade porch were added circa 1900.

Here you can find many gifts to the Montgomery County Historical Society, most without a connection to the Lane family. For example, we have a 19th-century horn used by the local fire department as well as a sleigh. You can also see a collection of swords. One day we hope these artifacts will be displayed in a museum of Montgomery County History because they all tell an important part of our history and culture.
